KwikStairs - The Basics
1) Measure the lower finished floor to upper finished floor where your stairs will eventually fit. In the unfortunate case you are not able to find your lower finished floor to higher finished floor measurement, please see the technical information area further down for more information and guidance
2) Use the tread guide below to work out the number of treads you will need for your new stairs (including nosing):
| Finished Lower To Higher Floor Measurement | Number Of Treads (Including Nosing) |
| 1781-1980mm | 9 |
| 1981-2200mm | 10 |
| 2201-2420mm | 11 |
| 2421-2640mm | 12 |
| 2641-2860mm | 13 |
| 2861-3080mm | 14 (14 or more treads must include a winder box) |
3) The product images on this website are all based on a 13 tread staircase. Should your floor to floor measurement give a different number of treads, you'll need to adjust the measurements by 245mm per tread if you require more or less than 13
4) All width measurements are from the outside edge of each string
5) All length measurements are from the front face of the first riser to the trimmer or outside edge of the joining winder box, and outside edge of the winder box to the trimmer or outside edge of the joining winder box
6) You need to decide on the width of the staircase:
| Options |
| 900mm (and less) for a KwikStairs straight flight |
| Or 900mm, 850mm, 800mm, 750mm, 700mm, 650mm for any KwikStairs winding combination |
7) Measure the space available to you for where you would like your stairs
8) Decide on the style of staircase you would like (straight flight, single winder, double winder or 'S' winder)
9) Navigate to that section of the guide below
10) Look at all the styles and measurements for your chosen width of stairs
11) Is there a style that will fit the space available to you?

KwikStairs Straight Flight Guide
If you've decided on a straight flight set of KwikStairs for your home, please use the below guide to work out the width and length of your new stairs. Please be aware that when constructing straight flights only, KwikStairs can be made at any width up to 900mm wide. The below straight flight measurement key is based on a 13 tread staircase (floor to floor 2641-2860mm).

| A Measurement (width of current stairs = horizontal dimension of new stairs) | B Measurement (width of current stairs = width of new stairs) |
| 900mm = 2950mm | 900mm = 900mm |
| 850mm = 2950mm | 850mm = 850mm |
| 800mm = 2950mm | 800mm = 800mm |
| 750mm = 2950mm | 750mm = 750mm |
| 700mm = 2950mm | 700mm = 700mm |
| 650mm = 2950mm | 650mm = 650mm |
So if you require a 900mm width staircase then: dimension A = 2950mm and dimension B = 900mm. To add or minus a tread, alter the above measurements by 245mm. Use the decision tree below to help you decide between all the different KwikStair product options:
